Advisement FROM residents. Accountability TO residents. Advocacy FOR residents.
Our Vision:
Protect North Sioux City from Future Flooding
We are committed to finding a timely solution to protect North Sioux City from future flooding. While the long-term flood protection plan will be complex and require extensive collaboration with federal and state agencies, including the Army Corps, DANR, Union County, and other key stakeholders, we will do everything in our power to ensure that this issue is prioritized and addressed swiftly. We understand that this will be a lengthy process that may involve significant red tape and approvals, but we will work diligently to keep the pressure on the right people and agencies, making sure that the voices of North Sioux City residents are heard and that we advocate for quick action. In the meantime, we will focus on interim solutions and work with all necessary entities to create a sustainable and effective flood protection plan that keeps our community safe.
How We’ll Make It Happen:
- Actively engage with state and federal agencies to advocate for a comprehensive and expedited flood protection plan.
- Push for the development of short-term solutions while the long-term plan progresses.
- Be vocal in our advocacy efforts, ensuring North Sioux City's concerns are represented in key decision-making discussions.

Restore & Preserve McCook Lake for Generations
We are deeply committed to restoring and preserving McCook Lake for everyone to enjoy. The flood has caused significant damage, and it's essential that we act swiftly to restore the lake’s natural beauty and ecological health. Working with state partners, we will aim to immediately secure the necessary resources for cleanup and long-term maintenance. Protecting the lake’s integrity is a top priority, and we do not support the development of canals.
How We’ll Make It Happen:
- Collaborate with the state to quickly secure funding and resources for a comprehensive cleanup and restoration plan for McCook Lake.
- Work to identify funding sources for ongoing maintenance of the lake.
- Take steps to improve pedestrian access points to McCook Lake, ensuring residents will have opportunities to safely enjoy the area once restoration is complete.

Drive Sustainable Growth to Strengthen Our Community
We are committed to fostering growth that strengthens North Sioux City while keeping property taxes low and addressing community concerns, including industrial odors. Sustainable development is essential for expanding our tax base and funding vital flood restoration and mitigation efforts. While we focus on expanding and growing our community, we must also prioritize the safety and well-being of our current residents, ensuring that growth does not overshadow their needs. Without growth, the financial burden of recovery will fall on existing taxpayers.
How We’ll Make It Happen:
- Support efforts to expand workforce housing, grow our tax base, and generate funding for essential flood restoration and mitigation projects.
- Address and resolve industrial odors in our community to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all residents.
- Prioritize responsible growth that strengthens our economy and community, balancing development with the city’s recovery efforts and ensuring the needs of current residents are met.
